It is often said that when emotions are too powerful to be spoken they have to be sung and the power of a great singer to move us emotionally is undeniable.
But did you know we respond in almost exactly the same way when we listen to someone speak with passion and honesty. 4D voice coaching can help you discover and develop the hidden strength and power of your speaking voice.
How surprised would you be to know that research on the human voice reveals people prefer to hear information delivered by deeper voices? But don't worry if your voice is higher than normal because it's not quite as simple as just high and low when it comes to the sound, and specifically the pitch (or musicality) of your voice.
In fact, we may not realise how much we actually reveal about ourselves the moment we begin to speak. However, we often feel better once we have given voice to a concern, desire or fear. It’s almost as if the energy contained in the thought or emotion is causing us discomfort and once we release that energy by speaking we feel better. Something shifts within us. The act of speaking literally releases energy. And energy creates action.
The Nation's Favourite Voices
A poll was recently commissioned by Post Office Telecoms and carried out by University of Sheffield linguist Andrew Linn. Participants were played a mix of 50 male and female voices. The perfect female voice was revealed to be a combination of Mariella Frostrup and Dame Judi Dench and on the male side Alan Rickman, Jeremy Irons and Michael Gambon were the most popular.
In the same study researchers came up with a mathematical formula for the perfect voice. Apparently we should speak no more than 164 words per minute and pause for 0.48 seconds between sentences.
